Dr. Jerry Root is Assistant Professor and Director of the Evangelism Initiative at Wheaton College, and Associate Director of the Billy Graham Center Institute of Strategic Evangelism. He teaches graduate courses in the MA in Evangelism Program and undergraduate courses in the Christian Formation and Ministry Department. In addition, Jerry is visiting professor at Biola University, Talbot Graduate School of Theology in La Mirada, CA, and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL.

Prior to coming to Wheaton, Jerry served as senior pastor at Trinity Baptist Church in Santa Barbara, CA, as college pastor at College Church in Wheaton and Granada Heights Friends Church in La Mirada, CA. He has traveled extensively to preach and lecture in 16 countries, 25 states and has lectured in 38 colleges or university campuses. He is co-editor of the book The Quotable C.S. Lewis and has authored a number of articles and book chapters on C.S. Lewis, evangelism and spiritual formation.

Jerry and his wife have four adult children and reside inWheaton, IL.
